| The Security and
Safety Division of Ingersoll-Rand contracted
TPT to provide a study that would enable an
analytical approach to drive decisions to
improve the productivity performance at the
facility.
The project scope was to provide a work
leveling study in the Bead and Trim (BT)
area and utilize a Labor Staffing Tool derived
from MODAPTS Work Standards. The goal of
this tool was to adjust manning to volume
and mix volatility. The next step was to
develop a Mix Model for the BT and L-Line
areas to map optimum product flow and to
schedule product to the mix model and optimize
throughput utilizing a pull system. TPT
also standardized and documented processes
to the operator and product type level.
These processes were then transferred to
the Atlanta RMF project for start-up and
training purposes. A line speed strategy
was also developed for various manning and
volume levels.
